León, August 29, 2020. Around a thousand tons of Steel coils from Port of Gijón arrived this week at the provisional siding in Villadangos del Páramo (León), within the framework of the first shipments of raw material destined for the León plant Coated Solutions, whose pickling line will be the start of the entire Leon Steel Project. The president of the Network Steel Resources group, Oscar Heckh, the councilors of Economy and Development of La Junta de Castilla y León, Carlos Fernandez Carriedo and  Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones, respectively, along with local and regional authorities, attended the arrival of the train loaded with coils to the Villadangos siding, in an act that symbolized the start-up of the León Coated Solutions industrial plant. It is expected that in the whole of 2020, about 40,000 tons of raw material will arrive in Villadangos for León Coated, a volumen that could reach 200,000 tons in 2021.

 

During the event, Oscar Heckh thanked the collaboration of the different administrations for the development of the Leon Steel Project and underlined the importance of being able to have in the future, as planned, a railway branch that reaches the industrial estate at the factory footing Villadangos industrial plant, which will mean the full logistical competitiveness of the plant. “ We can´t sleep alone with this makeshift landing,” Heckh said. Success in collaboration between the public and private sectors has been one of the keys to the success of the initiative, as the participants in the Villadangos event also agreed.
